Sample itinerary for Barcelona and Madrid trips

DAY 1

  • Settle comfortably into your seats as you depart on your overnight flight to Spain.

DAY 2

  • Arrival in Barcelona. Let's get this trip started! Get a first glimpse of the city during a panoramic coach tour. 
  • Walk up to the top of Montjuic and enjoy the magnificent views from above.

DAY 3

  • Get ready for a fully-documented guided tour of Modern Barcelona.
  • Walk along the colorful alleys of Park Guëll and enter the world of Gaudi, the genius architect. 
  • Learn everything there is to know about the ongoing work happening on the sites of the Sagrada Familia.
  • Follow your tour leader through the architecturally beautiful streets of the Barri Gòtic.
  • Is there a better way to discover a new culture than through its food? Roll up your sleeves and let's partake in a paella workshop! 

DAY 4

  • Hit the road for a morning excursion to the impressive Montserrat Monastery, including a ride via rack railway.
  • Practice your Spanish as you order some delicious fresh food at the Boqueria Market.
  • Soccer is like a religion here. Visit Camp Nou, the FC Barcelona stadium, to proof-check that claim.
  • You can't travel to Barcelona and not spend some free time on the Ramblas.

DAY 5

  • It's time to make way to Madrid! All aboard the train.
  • Stretch your legs on an orientation tour of the historic district with your tour leader.
  • Stroll through the amazing Parque del Buen Retiro, the lung of the city! Or if you prefer it, make it a bike tour to make the experience that much more special.

DAY 6

  • Meet a local guide to head out and explore the city. See Plaza Mayor, la Puerta del Sol, Plaza de Cibeles, and so much more.
  • Walk along the alleys of the Mercado de San Miguel. Good luck choosing what to taste, the options are endless!
  • Goya, Velázquez, El Greco, Ribera, there's no lack of talent in the collections of the famous Prado Museum.
  • Clap your hands and stomp your feet to the beat, you're about to participate in your very-own Flamenco class.

DAY 7

  • All aboard for a half-day excursion to Toledo! On the program, the 13th century cathedral, the Iglesia de San Tomé and the Alcázar.
  • Enjoy some free time to explore the city at your own pace or do some shopping on the Gran Via, known as the ''Spanish Broadway.''
  • Let's make this final meal worth it and dig in to a tapas dinner! 

DAY 8

  • With your head and luggage full of memories, make your way to Madrid Airport to catch your flight home. ¡Adiós España!
