Our Commitment to Health & Safety

Educational travel is an important part of the student learning experience. But like all travel, it carries an inherent element of risk. It is for this reason that safeguarding our travellers, while at the same time delivering a positive learning and travel experience that will resonate with our participants for the rest of their lives, remains at the very core of what we do.

Jumpstreet is fully committed to providing peace of mind, offering ultimate flexibility to all participants on our tours and ensuring that the highest possible safety standards are maintained on behalf of our travelling clients throughout their trip.

JSED_Global Support Network in Numbers

JSED_Health and Safety_Costa Rica Service Learning TourGlobal Network and On-Tour Support

For more than 55 years, WorldStrides companies globally have been the trusted partner of more than 9 million travellers. As part of the WorldStrides family, Jumpstreet relies on a deep network of partnerships to support our focus on safety and security on tour. All aspects of every program are reviewed, from the initial planning stages to the on-tour experience, to ensure that the health and safety of all our participants is our top priority, every step of the way.

Thanks to our exclusive relationship with the George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates (GWMFA), we can provide 24/7 access to medical care for all travelling participants. Through telehealth consultation, medical professionals are available to evaluate health-related concerns and make recommendations for treatment. Telehealth consultation with a mental health professional is also available through our relationship with AXA Behavioral Health.

We collaborate with external partners to establish the standards for medical, evacuation, and liability insurance with best-in-class support that adds an additional layer of protection for our participants, our trip organizers, and the schools we partner with. We are one of just a handful of organizations to hold the Student Youth Travel Association’s (SYTA) Certified Student Travel Organization (CSTO) accreditation, which is awarded to businesses who uphold a rigorous set of safety requirements. We continue to work with ExLog Global, a global risk management firm that offers intelligence, analysis, and in-depth evaluations of our program destinations, as well as timely reporting on breaking events and shifting security threats across the globe, and emergency response services.

Jumpstreet, and parent-company WorldStrides, will stand by you throughout the trip-planning process to ensure a complete and safe experience for all participants on our trips.

Frequently Asked Questions

After more than 30 years of experience in educational travel, we've become pros at navigating the sometimes-complex regulations of certain specific school boards. We are confident we can meet even the most stringent risk regulations for travel within your school board.

WorldStrides has an unmatched safety record, the largest liability insurance policy in the industry, and $1 million in consumer protection, enough to ensure true peace of mind.

In the event of a medical emergency, the WorldAssist by WorldStrides team - the gateway to our Doctors on Call Program - is available 24 hours a day.

Doctors on Call is an exclusive partnership we have with the George Washington University Department of Emergency Medicine. Through this partnership, doctors provide consultation just for our participants, typically avoiding a visit to a local doctor or ER. Doctors on Call is just one of the many steps we take to provide a safe experience for all our participants.

If your child needs any form of medication or medical attention during their trip, you must, firstly, inform the trip organizer or head chaperone of the trip. They will be responsible (in addition to your child) for ensuring that all medication is taken at the right times.

Additionally, please add this information to the “Participant Details” of your child’s profile on the Jumpstreet portal. A report of the group's special needs, dietary restrictions, and allergies will be forwarded to your group's Tour Consultant, Tour Leader, and to all of the restaurants that appear on your group's itinerary, so we ensure that all special needs are taken care of during the trip.

Unfortunately, many things can happen that might cause a participant to cancel or shorten their trip, Worse, participants risk losing their travel investment if they are not properly covered prior to departure.

Jumpstreet highly recommends all travellers purchase travel insurance prior to their trip. Many of our external insurance providers include a cancellation / trip interruption clause for sickness and injury, and Jumpstreet (as part of WorldStrides Canada) also offers an additional safety blanket with our Cancel for Any Reason waiver benefit, if not yet included by the insurance provider. To learn more about our Travel Protection Plans, head here.

See our Terms and Conditions to learn more about our individual cancellation fees.

If you, or a participant is experiencing any sort of emergency while out on the road, you can call our toll free, 24/7 emergency line at 1-800-663-4956 ext. 7

Our team will be able to assess the emergency and find the best way to mitigate the situation, alongside the group's tour leader(s) and chaperones.
