Our Commitment to Health & Safety

Educational travel is an important part of the student learning experience. But like all travel, it carries an inherent element of risk. It is for this reason that safeguarding our travellers, while at the same time delivering a positive learning and travel experience that will resonate with our participants for the rest of their lives, remains at the very core of what we do.

Jumpstreet is fully committed to providing peace of mind, offering ultimate flexibility to all participants on our tours and ensuring that the highest possible safety standards are maintained on behalf of our travelling clients throughout their trip.

JSED_Global Support Network in Numbers

JSED_Health and Safety_Costa Rica Service Learning TourGlobal Network and On-Tour Support

For more than 55 years, WorldStrides companies globally have been the trusted partner of more than 9 million travellers. As part of the WorldStrides family, Jumpstreet relies on a deep network of partnerships to support our focus on safety and security on tour. All aspects of every program are reviewed, from the initial planning stages to the on-tour experience, to ensure that the health and safety of all our participants is our top priority, every step of the way.

Thanks to our exclusive partnership with the George Washington Department of Emergency Medicine, Dr. Neal Sikka serves as WorldStrides’ Medical Director and oversees our 24/7 Doctors on Call program. We collaborate with external partners to establish the standards for medical, evacuation, and liability insurance with best-in-class support that adds an additional layer of protection for our participants, our trip organizers, and the schools we partner with. We are one of just a handful of organizations to hold the Student Youth Travel Association’s (SYTA) Certified Student Travel Organization (CSTO) accreditation, which is awarded to businesses who uphold a rigorous set of safety requirements. We continue to work with ExLog Global, a global risk management firm that offers intelligence, analysis, and in-depth evaluations of our program destinations, as well as timely reporting on breaking events and shifting security threats across the globe, and emergency response services.

Jumpstreet, and parent-company WorldStrides, will stand by you throughout the trip-planning process to ensure a complete and safe experience for all participants on our trips.

Frequently Asked Questions

Unless required by the destination, venue, or activity, vaccination is not required to participate on a Jumpstreet trip.

Although not required, Jumpstreet recommends the use of masks in crowded spaces and areas of high transmission. Participants must follow country, local, or venue mask requirements. For maximum protection, the CDC recommends the use of either a KN95 mask (or equivalent such as FFP2 or KF94) or double mask, preferably a disposable surgical mask with a cloth mask. Some international destinations require the use of a specific type of mask.

Although not required, Jumpstreet strongly recommends that participants take a COVID-19 test before travel to reduce the risk of illness on program and having to isolate away from home. Either a home test or a lab-based test is acceptable taken within the following timeframe: a PCR test taken within 3 days of trip departure OR an antigen test taken within 2 days of trip departure.

  • Anyone receiving a positive test result will not be able to participate on the program and should speak with Jumpstreet about future travel opportunities.

Participants must complete at least five (5) full days of isolation and receive a negative test result on Day 6 or later OR complete ten (10) full days of isolation to participate on the program.

  • Day 0 is the date of the positive test if asymptomatic or the date of the onset of symptoms (if no more than 2 days before testing).

To participate on the program, a minimum of five (5) days must have passed since the last COVID-19 exposure, the participant must be symptom free, and have a negative test before departure (can be an at home test).

  • Day 0 is the date of last exposure.
  • The participant must monitor for symptoms and mask for a full 10 days after last exposure.

If a participant exhibits symptoms of COVID-19, Jumpstreet will help them get tested and safely separate from the rest of the group while awaiting the results. The Program Leader will be in close contact with you as they work with Jumpstreet to make arrangements for the participant’s care plan. The participant's testing and medical expenses should be covered by insurance. As a reminder, Jumpstreet recommends that all participants bring a copy of their insurance coverage with them on program and use their insurance as primary where applicable.
