Last year we agreed to offset the carbon footprint of our motor coach trips by helping fund a tree-planting initiative in British Columbia. The trees planted absorb and contain the same amount of carbon emitted by the motor coaches, thereby making that part of our student tours carbon neutral. In 2010, Jumpstreet purchased enough carbon offsets to make up for the 816,205 tons of CO2 used running our tours. That's the equivalent of removing 200 cars from the road in Canada! None of our competitors include that as part of their program.


On the Road
This year, we will be incorporating an environmental awareness message into our educational tours. Our tour leaders are specially trained in sustainable tourism, and our passengers will learn the importance of their actions while travelling and be encouraged to make choices that reduce their impact on the environment both during and after their trip. By setting a good example and encouraging responsible behaviour we are raising the environmental awareness of thousands of students each year.
